Jiao Li Sparring
Jiao Li is the first Chinese fighting systems originating in the Zhou Dynasty (between the twelfth and third century BC). It was a form of combat used to keep the army prepped for battle. Jiao Li combined wrestling with striking and joint locking (or joint attacks) making it a very well rounded martial art system. By the Qin Dynasty (221 BC – 207 BC) Jiao Li further evolved into a combat sport mirroring modern day MMA tournaments.
Jiao Li later formed into Shuai Jiao; a system that encompasses vast amounts of wrestling and throwing skills, and various forms of Kung Fu.
The Class
The Jiao Li Sparring Class is where our more advanced and competition students train their sparring skills and tactics. Wrestling, clinching and ground fighting skills are used along with long range striking techniques. (By invitation only.)
